The AMH-5 Automatic Magnetic Hysteresisgraph
is a precision personal computer controlled system designed for measuring the DC magnetic properties of a broad range of soft, i.e., non-permanent magnetic materials in either toroid or strip form (with optional strip test fixture). With a system accuracy of better than 2% and a color display monitor to enhance the data presentation, the AMH-5 provides both research and production with fast, reliable and comprehensive test results.
The AMH-5 system is suitable for testing samples in a configuration that allows the magnetizing field strength to be derived from the magnetizing current. This includes test methods applicable to closed magnetic
circuits of uniform sections such as ring core tests, 25 cm Epstein Frame tests, stacked lamination tests and solenoid tests on samples for which self demagnetizing effects can be controlled or evaluated.
The AMH-5 system consists of two major components. The
first is the system computer with color monitor, keyboard and mouse. The second is the instrumentation and data acquisition unit that includes an integrating fluxmeter, function generator, power amplifier, and sample connection
terminals. The AMH-5 system is completely menu-driven using a Windows NT or XP operating system. No programming skills are required for setup and operation. Once test parameters have been entered, the operator can automatically
evaluate samples at production rates.
The AMH-5 features both manual and automatic control of the system components. The manual mode provides direct
control of the fluxmeter, function generator and amplifier. Real time display of readings, numeric and graphic, allows the operator to easily manipulate or calibrate the system. Attaching an external laser printer or any
MS-Windows compatible output device can produce Hardcopy results. Data may also be "uploaded" or networked to another computer for further analysis.
The AMH-5 can be used with various power amplifiers.
Hysteresis loop parameters, with curves, are displayed on a high-resolution color monitor. Laser printers can easily be attached to allow printing of both the test data and hysteresis (BH) curve. The test data may also be saved
to the computer hard disk for later analysis.
The high precision and ease of operation of the AMH-5 make it a suitable tool for both the research and production
environments. Applications include the analyzing the magnetic properties soft ferrites, amorphous cores and electrical steels and evaluating the effects of heat treatment.
The following magnetic values are reported on the AMH-5: Remanence (Br), Coercivity (Hc), Maximum Induction (Bmax), Maximum Magnetizing Force (Hmax), Initial Permeability (µinit) Maximum Permeability (µmax), Permeability at Selected "H" (µH),
and Permeability at Selected "B" (µB).
Features of the AMH-5 include:
- Keyboard Selectable SI or CGS units
